Maritonie Lagman: Your future filmmaker
When I was a child, I wanted to be a teacher, police, a lawyer or a chef. During that time I was interested in everything around me. As the time goes by, I’ve realized that there’s so much more to explore. I’m an adventurous person; I want to discover something new that will challenge me.
I noticed that I loved taking photos and would like to be part of a theatre or film production. But unfortunately, we couldn’t afford it; I took up Bachelor of Science in Hotel Restaurant Management major in Hospitality Management instead. I had no choice that time but I learned to love the course anyway and I know that everything happens for a reason. I know that my parents are working hard to send me to school and I also don’t want to add burden to my family.
I feel so blessed because somehow I got to experience my dream through the help of Children International Quezon City (Inc.) I joined the Community Youth Reporter program (CYR). This program teaches us basic journalism and I got to be part of a production team that tells different stories about our communities through photos, videos and write-ups.
I’m an incoming 4th year student and I feel really happy with what I have right now because I am able to finish my course and I also got to experience being part of a production team. I’m Maritonie C. Lagman, soon to be a Bachelor’s degree holder in Hospitality Management. And I hope God will guide me in my journey.
